BIO
Augusto Calçada is a Brazilian ex-human artist holding a degree in Media Studies from FIRB, with a specialization in Modern Art from MoMA. His work delves into developing speculative projects that bridge the dynamics of identity, society, memory and territories.
He facilitates hybrid projects that merge art-science-interactivity-technology on transdisciplinary platforms, amplifying collaboration across diverse fields and fostering an independent network that reflects on bio-life.
His work provides hands-on experience with innovative new media tools, engaging deeply with the open-source community for cultural practice. Augusto specializes in multispecies storytelling and more-than-human production, merging scientific rigor with artistic creativity.
His works have been exhibited in diverse places, such as the Museum of Modern Art in Rio de Janeiro, Athens Digital Arts Festival (ADAF), Transmediale 2024, the International Video Art Forum in Saudi Arabia, /'fu:bar/ in Croatia, Saint-André des Arts in Paris, São Paulo Museum of Image and Sound, and The Wrong Biennale.
Augusto Calçada is the co-curator of the ecoSYNTH Festival in Berlin and founder of the Terrabytes Glitch Lab, a phygital collective of independent artists and researchers dedicated to exploring art, science, technology, and nature. Embracing the open-source spirit, they support accessible and shareable innovation, amplifying a collaborative digital network while fostering connectivity within the creative community.
